Institutional Grants

The fastest-growing sources of financial aid for students are private funds that are raised by the colleges and universities themselves. The majority of grant aid given to students comes not from federal and state government, but from colleges and universities. Institutional grants, like federal and state grants, do not have to be paid back. The amount of grant aid offered to students will differ from one institution to another. At Wisconsin's private colleges, approximately 80 percent of the grant aid comes from the colleges and universities. The remaining grant aid comes from federal and state sources.
